| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, August 17th, 2027: Farris Slaps 5 Hits On top of the Ashfield hit parade today was Rob Farris. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Anglers to a 9-7 victory over the Hamm Monsters. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-5 performance.
The sweet swinging third baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
The skipper of the Monsters wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
R. Farris singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off O. Espinosa in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off R. Sánchez in the 9th.
Currently Farris is batting .300 with 9 home runs and 61 RBIs. |  | Tuesday, August 3rd, 2027: Anglers Sondergaard Tosses Masterpiece Valter Sondergaard of the Ashfield Anglers was masterful today, pitching a 5-hit 9-0 shutout against the Fort Wayne Sabres and giving his bullpen a rest by going the the distance.
According to his manager, "He had command of every ball and every pitch . . . great location, too." Sondergaard had 6 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in an impressive outing.
To date this season, Sondergaard has a record of 5 wins and 3 losses and a 4.78 ERA. He has appeared in 10 games and struck out 27 in 58.1 innings. |  | Saturday, July 31st, 2027: Mountain Lions Holds Anglers Scoreless Juan Costa of the Garland Mountain Lions fashioned a fine 11-0 victory over the Ashfield Anglers. He held them to 2 hits with no walks and 7 strikeouts in a strong outing.
