Toledo fans embraced the signing of Jeff McShadder today with a few doubts. While most were appreciative that the club had signed a solid ballplayer, they were also concerned about his reputation as a "me first" kind of guy.
McShadder was signed for $60,390,000 over 3 years.
Lifetime McShadder has hit for a .304 average and totaled 1529 hits, 198 home runs and 791 RBIs. |

Fans reacted cautiously as rumors of a potential deal involving 35-year-old Steve Lambert and the Sword Masters gathered steam. Most of the team faithful are leery of picking up a talent on the back end of the age spectrum, though some thought that the veteran presence might be good for the organization and that he could help out with younger players.

Today at a press conference the Toledo Sword Masters announced a trade has been completed with the Kaiserslautern Wolves. The Sword Masters have shipped 26-year old minor league first baseman Ernest Harrington to the Wolves for 30-year old reliever Carlos Mendoza.
Mendoza has 84 saves during his career with a 25-22 record and a 3.15 ERA. |
