| Breaking News | | Friday, September 24th, 2027: Yi on Fire, 5-6 Against Columbus Young-chul Yi really did a number on the Cheetahs in the Delaware 9-3 victory. Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 6 at-bats. But Young-chul Yi did just that today for the Encryptors and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 22-year-old right fielder said after his record-setting performance.
Y. Yi hit an RBI double in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Currently Yi has 12 home runs and a .351 batting average. | | Sunday, August 29th, 2027: Oshin and Barlini Fight, Get Suspended The shenanigans between the Columbus Cheetahs and Grand Junction Silverbacks will leave them a little short-handed. Cheetahs catcher Helmar Oshin and Silverbacks catcher Mathias Barlini were suspended by the league for 5 games following the on-field battle this week at Columbus Grounds.
Oshin is hitting .313 so far this season with 88 RBIs and 66 runs scored. He has 146 hits including 21 home runs, 24 walks and .349 OBP.
This season Barlini has a 10-8 record with a 4.03 ERA in 28 starts. | | Wednesday, August 11th, 2027: Suspends Carrión Alejandro Carrión's disrobing act in yesterday's 3-0 loss to the Las Vegas Ballas at Columbus Grounds cost him a 4-game suspension. The league office informed the Columbus Cheetahs today that their third baseman would be suspended for "his poor conduct and unacceptable behavior that made a farce out of the game."
After being called out on strikes, Carrión was ejected by the home plate umpire after a heated and animated discussion. In protest for the ejection, he proceeded to throw his bat down, take off his batting gloves, cap, shirt, socks and shoes and left them at home plate, refusing to pick them up.
Asked about the suspension, Carrión sheepishly told reporters, "I did a stupid and embarrassing thing. Let's just leave it at that."
This year Carrión has hit at a .257 clip with 35 RBIs, 4 home runs and 65 runs scored. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | CF José Peña | fractured skull | 9 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 82-80, .506 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 1.0 GB | | Record at home | 43-38, .531 PCT | | Record on the road | 39-42, .481 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 11-3, .786 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 31-21, .596 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 23-24, .489 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 59-56, .513 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 17-11, .607 PCT | | Record in May | 15-14, .517 PCT | | Record in June | 15-10, .600 PCT | | Record in July | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in August | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in September | 6-17, .261 PCT |
