The Shivs have reached a deal with Hawk Mountain, sending 29-year old third baseman Domingo León to the Sharpshins in exchange for 34-year old reliever Lee Kelly and 23-year old minor league starting pitcher Tomás García. Reports had been hinting at a deal in recent days, but weren't confirmed until this afternoon.
In his career León is batting .244 with 183 hits, 26 doubles, 1 triple and 10 home runs.
To date Kelly's career stats show a 54-27 record with 49 saves and an ERA of 3.04. He has fanned 807 opposing hitters and held them to a .225 average. |
 | Saturday, September 18th, 2027: Shivs Martínez Injured
Wilson Martínez of the Leavenworth Shivs was injured in today's game against Hampton Roads and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a strained hamstring muscle, and he is expected to be out for up to 2 weeks. It happened while Martínez was running the bases. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."
Martínez has a .271 average and a .447 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 132 hits, 15 home runs and driven in 78 runs. |
| Sunday, September 5th, 2027: Retter Slams 3 Deep for Leavenworth!
George Retter was sending souvenirs to the sun gods all game long in the Leavenworth 7-1 triumph over Las Vegas, launching not one, not two, but three home runs into the stands. Nobody who was at Assassins Ballpark will forget this home run outburst anytime soon.
The Leavenworth right fielder went 3-3, rung up 6 RBIs, and scored 3 runs on his record-setting day.
He told the press corps after his three home run binge, "One homer's good, two's great, three's out of sight. I can't wait until tomorrow's game. I really feel good at the plate."
G. Retter hit a solo-shot off P. Hernández in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off P. Hernández in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off P. Hernández in the 5th and walked in the 7th.
So far in 2027, Retter is batting .250 with 3 home runs and 14 RBIs. |
