Las Vegas team officials speculated whether star starting pitcher Johan Ernst would be scratched from today's ballgame after he suffered a strained back muscle in yesterday's matchup with the Memphis Dynasty. Ernst denied reports that he would miss a lot of time, but added that he would not risk further injury by playing.

George Retter was sending souvenirs to the sun gods all game long in the Leavenworth 7-1 triumph over Las Vegas, launching not one, not two, but three home runs into the stands. Nobody who was at Assassins Ballpark will forget this home run outburst anytime soon.
The Leavenworth right fielder went 3-3, rung up 6 RBIs, and scored 3 runs on his record-setting day.
He told the press corps after his three home run binge, "One homer's good, two's great, three's out of sight. I can't wait until tomorrow's game. I really feel good at the plate."
G. Retter hit a solo-shot off P. Hernández in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off P. Hernández in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off P. Hernández in the 5th and walked in the 7th.

The pitcher-batter confrontation is an intense one, and sometimes that tension becomes too much and boils over. This time, it happened to Stuttgart right fielder Armando Gallegos and Las Vegas right fielder Johan Ernst. The two were the main participants in a fight that cleared the benches, and today, both were suspended by the league 8 games for their actions.
"I hope things settle down now," the manager of the Ballas said later. "There's no reason for us to be locked in a cycle of revenge. We all need to focus on baseball instead."
Gallegos is hitting .133 this year with no home runs, 2 RBIs and 4 runs scored. He has 4 hits in 30 at-bats, 3 walks and a .270 on-base percentage. Gallegos has played in 22 games.
