Wednesday, November 1st, 2006: Iván Toro Captures Best Bat Trophy
It's been a year of triumph for veteran Iván Toro of the Seattle Steelheads as he hit his way to the 2006 Western Circuit Most Valuable Player Award.

The 34-year-old veteran compiled a .320 average and .405 on-base percentage by putting together 198 hits, 24 doubles, 10 triples, 41 home runs and 86 walks. He also scored 121 times and drove in 122 runs.
Friday, September 1st, 2006: Gutiérrez on Fire, 5-5 Against Seattle
Ángel Gutiérrez put on a hitting clinic today as the Oil Kings dumped the Steelheads 13-7 at Jock Ewing Stadium. The Dallas center fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Seattle pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game.

He told BNN reporters after the game that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."

Á. Gutiérrez singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off J. Reilly in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

This season Gutiérrez is hitting .266 with 75 hits, 6 home runs, 29 RBIs, scored 43 runs and played in 107 games.
Friday, September 1st, 2006: Seattle Loses Cayer for Season
The season is finished for Raymond Cayer of the Seattle Steelheads. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Steelheads center fielder suffered a fractured knee while being hit by a pitch in a recent game against the Dallas Oil Kings. Team doctors said it would take at least 2-3 months to heal.

This season Cayer is hitting at a .272 pace with 7 home runs, 53 RBIs and has scored 73 times.
