| Breaking News | | Sunday, September 3rd, 2006: Poe to Miss 1-2 Weeks Washington fans will be disappointed to learn that Robert Poe developed a tender wrist tendon while throwing the ball in today's game. After the doctor informed the Washington Federals manager that Poe was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the right fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
In his season totals, Poe has 5 home runs, .326 BA, .382 OBP, 55 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has played in 122 games. | | Monday, August 21st, 2006: Week's Premier Player: Washington's Fabroni Ferruccio Fabroni went on a week-long hitting spree against Eastern Circuit pitchers and captured the Player of the Week honors.
The Washington first baseman battered the opposition for 14 hits, 4 home runs, 10 RBI and scored 7 runs. He hit .424 and posted a .486 on-base percentage.
So far this year Fabroni is batting .331 with 39 home runs, 117 RBIs and 82 runs scored. | | Friday, August 18th, 2006: Chandler Sizzles -- Smokes Pirates for 6 Hits Bob Chandler told the press after his 6-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Chandler of the Washington Federals did against the Havana Pirates. He went to the plate 6 times and 6 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Pirates, who suffered a 6-5 defeat.
"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."
B. Chandler hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, hit an RBI double in the 10th, walked in the 12th and tripled in the 14th.
This season Chandler is hitting .285 with 9 home runs. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Rod Kessler | fractured ankle | 11 months | 4 day(s) left (60-day DL) | | P Reynaldo Chávez | strained rib cage muscle | 3-4 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 91-71, .562 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 10.0 GB | | Record at home | 53-28, .654 PCT | | Record on the road | 38-43, .469 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 10-7, .588 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 34-27, .557 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 29-22, .569 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 62-49, .559 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 15-7, .682 PCT | | Record in May | 17-13, .567 PCT | | Record in June | 13-14, .481 PCT | | Record in July | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in August | 18-12, .600 PCT | | Record in September | 16-8, .667 PCT | | Record in October | 0-1, .000 PCT |
