| Breaking News | | Sunday, October 22nd, 2006: Dallas Trades Gutiérrez for Pittsburgh's Holder Dallas and Pittsburgh have agreed in principle to a trade. The Oil Kings will send 29-year old center fielder Ángel Gutiérrez and 19-year old minor league third baseman Travis Jones to the Coal Miners for 32-year old starting pitcher Dan Holder and 22-year old minor league reliever Bill Jackson. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete.
In 578 career games Gutiérrez has hit .259 with 439 hits, 37 home runs, 192 RBIs and scored 191 runs.
During his career the 32-year-old Holder has piled up 1734 innings. Over that time, he has fanned 1042 batters, walked 513 and put up a 4.05 ERA. His lifetime won-lost mark is 106-87 and opposing clubs have hit .265 against him. | | Wednesday, September 27th, 2006: Charlotte's Flores Shines, Shuts out Pittsburgh Luis Flores was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Coal Miners. He shut them out 4-0 on 1 hit with 11 strikeouts and 1 walk.
The Charlotte manager said, "Luis was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Flores has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that offspeed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
Currently Flores has a record of 10-13 with 164 strikeouts and 93 walks in 178.2 innings and a 4.38 ERA. | | Tuesday, September 26th, 2006: Rodríguez Hurls Shutout "It was just one of those games, when everything went right. I threw a lot of strikes," José Rodríguez said. "And the pitches they did get to hit, they didn't do anything with them."
The Pittsburgh Coal Miners pitcher really got it done in his 6-0 shutout victory over the Charlotte Cougars, shutting them down on 3 hits. Rodríguez issued 3 walks and had 7 strikeouts.
This year Rodríguez has a 8-8 record with a 3.34 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 81-81, .500 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 20.0 GB | | Record at home | 45-36, .556 PCT | | Record on the road | 36-45, .444 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-9, .400 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 25-22, .532 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 29-21, .580 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 52-60, .464 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 8-13, .381 PCT | | Record in May | 15-10, .600 PCT | | Record in June | 16-14, .533 PCT | | Record in July | 16-11, .593 PCT | | Record in August | 15-15, .500 PCT | | Record in September | 11-17, .393 PCT | | Record in October | 0-1, .000 PCT |
