William Baird sent shock waves through the press corps when he spoke complimentarily of the Gators this afternoon. Saying that the team "takes care of its players," Baird dropped the bombshell that he could see himself playing in a Gators uniform and that if he were offered a good deal, he would have to really think about it before turning it down.

Baltimore officials presented Doug Driscoll to the media this afternoon as their latest signing.
The 30-year-old will make $10,910,000 a year over the course of his 4-year deal.
In his career Driscoll is batting .291 with a total of 228 home runs.

Fans in Houston woke up this morning to learn that their team had traded 28-year old reliever José Tobías to the Seattle Steelheads. In return, the Lone Stars will receive 23-year old minor league third baseman Aaron Kimball.
For his career Tobías has put together a won-lost record of 7-8. In 271.1 innings he has produced 171 strikeouts and a 3.65 ERA with 5 saves.
